How we order toilets
When you browse the map, Relieved decides the order in which toilets are shown to you. Here is exactly how that order is determined, and what does not influence it.
Ranking criteria
1. ProximityHow close the toilet is to your current location or the centre of your map view. This is the main factor: the nearest available toilets appear first.
2. AvailabilityWhether the toilet is open and free right now. Toilets that are open rank above those that are closed or in use.
3. RatingThe average score from visitor reviews. Used to order toilets that are otherwise similar in proximity and availability.
Popular near youOne strip on the map screen is ordered differently: the "Popular near you" row lists the toilets in your current map view with the highest number of completed visits. This ordering applies only to that row. It does not affect the map, the result list or which toilets are shown to you.
No paid placement
No host can pay to rank higher. Ranking is never influenced by any payment, commission, advertising, or by any ownership or capital link between a host and Relieved. Every toilet is ranked on the same criteria.
How a toilet gets listed
A toilet is listed when: it is located in a city where Relieved operates; the host is a business (at launch, only commercial hosts); the host completes onboarding with the required details; and the photos pass moderation.
How a toilet can be removed
A toilet may be delisted or hidden if: the host requests it; the host closes or becomes inactive; the Terms or host rules are not respected; the photos are rejected in moderation; or following repeated, well-founded complaints.
